About Alma Duo
Using the gold standard in shock wave technology – focused low-intensity extracorporeal shock wave therapy (LI-ESWT), Alma Duo is clinically validated to improve blood flow, with the most published studies dating back to 2010.

Alma Duo is a painless, non-surgical procedure that requires no anesthesia, no needles, and no pills that improves blood flow. For men, this treats the underlying cause of the majority of erectile dysfunction (ED), not just the symptoms, allowing them to achieve and maintain better erections naturally. For women, increased blood flow improves sensation, lubrication, and ability to achieve orgasm.
The procedure involves a series of 6 treatments over three weeks. Patients can begin to experience improvement in their symptoms during the course of treatment with the majority of improvement expected three to six weeks after the final session. What causes Erectile Dysfunction (ED), and how can we treat it?
Studies show the incidence of ED increases with age: approximately 40% of men are affected at age 40, and nearly 70% of men are affected at age 70. Heart disease, clogged blood vessels (atherosclerosis), high cholesterol, elevated blood pressure, diabetes and obesity are all risk factors for erectile dysfunction. These conditions interfere with proper blood flow to the penis, which is the major underlying cause of ED. However, simply aging is also a factor. Lifestyle factors such as stress, smoking, and alcohol consumption can also contribute causatively to ED.
Prescription ED drugs do not repair the underlying cause of ED. Erectile Dysfunction medications only temporarily increase blood flow to the penis by causing vasodilation, or widening the blood vessels, due to increased nitric oxide in the blood. This effect diminishes as the medication wears off so, ED drugs must be “timed” to be taken in a small window before intercourse. This is not convenient and eliminates any sexual spontaneity. ED prescriptions also have many potential side effects such as headaches, nausea, dizziness, vision or hearing changes, heart attack, and stroke.

What is Female sexual dysfunction?
Female sexual dysfunction is a disorder of sexual desire, arousal, orgasm, or sexual pain, which results in personal distress, decreased quality of life, and stress on relationships. Up to 60% of women are dissatisfied with their intimate experiences in some way. Much like ED for men, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and aging are risk factors due to underlying poor blood flow to the genitalia. Another factor can be hormone imbalance, after childbirth and especially after menopause. Lifestyle factors such as stress, smoking, and alcohol consumption can also contribute.
Prescription medications are not as readily available for women; however, Alma Duo shockwave treatments are painless and can improve blood flow to the genitalia improving lubrication, sensation, arousal, and climaxing during sex.
How does LI-ESWT work?
Alma Duo utilizes this patented shock wave therapy to cause mechanical stress to the treatment site causing an inflammatory response, which triggers a cascade of wound healing responses that induces neovascularization and angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels) to restore better blood flow and natural function to the treatment site.
Unlike other shock wave technologies, Alma Duo’s electrohydraulic applicator is designed to reach deeper depths (135mm) with 3X fewer pulses and lower energy to make it more effective and painless. The deeper depth is particularly important in men to effectively treat, not just the penile shaft, but the penile crus, located deep in the pelvis. The crus contains half of the cavernous bodies that comprise the corpus cavernosa which is responsible for getting and maintaining an erection.
Who is a good candidate?
Men who have erectile dysfunction that is vascular related or women who have difficulty reaching orgasm are the best Duo candidates. Duo will not address behavioral, psychological, or neurological problems.
How many treatments are required?
A series of 6 treatments spaced 2-3 days apart, generally completed within 3 weeks.
How long does each treatment take?
Each treatment takes about 15 minutes. A lubricating gel is applied to the area and the probe is placed at 5 treatment points for men and 3 treatment points for women. There is no downtime after the treatment – patient can immediately resume all normal activites, including intercourse.
