At Northshore Rejuvenation, Dr. Heather Bronaugh expertly performs the BeautiFill Fat Transfer System, allowing for a seamless multi-step procedure. Patients are given oral sedation and first undergo tumescent infiltration – this is where a solution containing the local anesthesia is placed in the areas of fat harvesting and fat transfer.
Dr. Bronaugh will then insert a cannula into the targeted area to begin the fat removal process. Using a combination of safe laser energy and gentle suction, fat is removed from problem areas. The fat is suctioned through a tube into the BeautiFill Fat Transfer System, where it is purified and processed for reinjection into desired areas of your face or body. Unlike traditional methods that perform each step separately, BeautiFill ensures the fat is ready for transfer immediately after harvesting.
Once the extraction is complete, the transfer sites are prepared and the purified live harvested fat cells are meticulously injected into areas where volume is desired.

Is the procedure painful?

Fat transfer can be performed in one treatment, and you can expect to see an immediate difference right away. Most patients will see the results last for many years. Fat removal can also usually be performed in a single treatment with an immediate difference. However, full recovery and skin tightening takes time with best results seen up to 6 months to one year post treatment.
What is the downtime from a BeautiFill treatment?
This depends on the amount of volume being removed and restored. For smaller cases, like full face volumization, mild swelling, bruising and soreness may last for 24-48 hours. For larger cases, especially for larger volume of fat removal, patients can expect at least several days of recovery. Most patients return to normal activity within about 3 days. There are longer restrictions for swimming and strenuous exercise.
Can I have fat removal and body contouring without fat transfer?
Yes! BeautiFill is an excellent option for body contouring, with or without fat transfer. Patients can expect less bruising, swelling, soreness and overall less downtime compared to traditional liposuction techniques.
Why do I have to wear a compression garment after fat removal/body contouring?
Compression is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT in achieving the best results after the procedure. It helps decrease swelling, promote proper drainage, lessen discomfort, but most importantly, has a significant impact on skin retraction and tightening during the initial recovery period. Patients should wear the compression garment 24/7 during the first 2 weeks, followed by an additional 2 weeks of at least 12 hours per day.
Why do I need to avoid pressure after fat transfer?
The fat transferred is live tissue and needs time to get established in the new area. Pressure can cause the fat to die, resulting in loss of the fat graft and restored volume.
